Welcome to Raider Artificial Intelligence Division's new website! Over the next few weeks we will be updating the site with more information, videos, and pictures. Please check back often over the coming days and weeks to see the progress!
Here is our promotional video, where we will explain to you who we are as a team and also a little bit about how we did last season during the FIRST Stronghold challenge. If you are interested in joining, helping, or wanting to help with funds for the team, visit the Contact page to get in touch with our leaders and captains.
FIRST Robotics Visit Site
The R.A.I.D. Robotics team has competed for a total of 4 years. They participate in a robotics competition ran and created by an organization called FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition). FRC is the most advanced stage of the four levels of competition created by a non-profit organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). This program, founded in 1992 by Dean Kamen, is now a worldwide competitive robotics experience for all ages. As well as FRC, it also includes FLL (FIRST Lego League) Jr. FLL, and FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge). To learn more information on FRC and the FIRST organization, click the "Visit Site" button.
“The varsity Sport for the MindTM”, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigours of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.
There are also scholarship opportunities through FIRST. There are over $20 Million in scholarships that are not just for science and engineering majors but also for any other major.
